This series includes materials created and gathered by Marvin Watson during his work with the Democratic Party in which he volunteered and served in various capacities in the field. Included are materials from Watson's time as head of the Democratic Party in Texas during which he campaigned across the United States for Vice President Johnson, and later served as the organizer of the 1964 Democratic National Convention. There are also administrative materials including Democratic National Committee weekly reports, transportation reports, and 1964 and 1968 convention correspondence regarding party platforms, convention delegates, accommodations, security, and investigations.

The 1964 Democratic National Convention of the Democratic Party, took place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey in August 1964. President Lyndon B. Johnson was nominated for a full term.
